2014

My 2014 art style is an evolution of my 2013 style, with the long eyes and long neck business. New developments included drawing the nose bridge (something I never grew out of!) and the bean mouth. Adventure Time kind of influenced the noodley-esque style of the limbs. Near the end of the year, I started to draw my eyes differently, which is how I'll be drawing my eyes for the years to come.

The most common subjects of interest that I drew were my fancharacters, who had their own crossover universe called Interlaced. Notable characters include Mia, Terry, Jon and Jackie, which I can (hopefully) make website profiles soon!

A lot of these drawings are unfortunately not dated, so I have no idea when I made them during the year. Sorry about the out-of-order art!

the big four line-up

traditional art of Bad Cat, Boomer Sneaker, Kuma and Renee jan 31, 2014

The four main characters of one of my oldest OC groups that I know of. They looked different from when I drew them in 2010. The characters are Bad Cat, Boomer Sneaker, Kuma and Renee. I'm planning to make a section of their story here on neocities, because I did revamp them recently!

abbey road

traditional art of Bad Cat, Boomer Sneaker, Kuma and Renee on a crosswalk apr 9, 2014

Some more art of the four furry fellas, this time they're referencing that Beatles album cover, Abbey Road! Nothing much else to say here, I tried to do background and perspectives. Colored with oil pastels and markers, apparently?

jon the space cop

traditional art of Jon as a space cop apr 27, 2014

The very first colored fullbody of Jon's oldest iteration: He was a LEGO Movie OC, who had the gimmicks of Benny and Good Cop Bad Cop. His whole thing is that his real face is concealed and is never seen without his helmet, but in reality he looked like this underneath it.

His helmet ended up being updated with his visor only covering his eyes, until I removed it completely since he wasn't a cop anymore.

interlaced busts

10 lineless fancharacter busts unknown date

Here's a group of OC waist ups! They're some of my old fancharacters...and perhaps you may recognize some of them. I also never uploaded this anywhere. Made with Autodesk on the iPad!

Text Transcript and OC Intro (from left to right, top to bottom):

Airumi (Adventure Time OC): Ah, hi...h-how may I help you?

Fidelix (Minecraft Enderman OC): Umm...it would be nice if you stop staring at me...It's kinda disturbing...

Teeny (Plants VS Zombies Gijinka?): I sense a ship coming!

Trojan (My Little Pony OC): >:I

Sumoro Solais / solaceOvercooked (Homestuck Troll OC): sO: yeah, Sure. Whatever.

Ophelia Ocie (Jimmy Two-Shoes OC): If it doesn't have a bright side, it doesn't exist!

Blackjack (Powerpuff Girls OC): What? It's not that I like him or anything.

Jonathan Swiss (LEGO Movie OC): But I admit, we have a bit of connection. Just not the good one.

Mia Thomason (Fanboy and Chum Chum OC): Whoa dude, that was AWESOME!

Terry Tova (Pokemon OC): Say what?

sunday morning

lineless jon and jackie chilling in front of a cafe unknown date

Despite this being one of my most sentimental pieces of all time, I apparently never uploaded this to DeviantArt? I've remade this twice, from 2020 and 2022. I made a blog post with all of them together!

definitely NOT a date

pixel art of jon and jackie as a LEGO figure and a puff girl aug 19, 2014

A silly shippy thing of them together. You may be asking, "Gene, why are you shipping these two specifically" and I say to that: opposites attract. Jackie was a criminal and Jon's a cop, need I say more?? This was sketch traditionally and then finished in MS Paint.

these two dorks

lineless jon and jackie drawn with limited color palettes sept 15, 2014

A little experiment on limited color palettes, featuring Jon and Jackie! It was canon once that Jackie has fire powers.

slytherin scarf

sept 30, 2014

A small headshot sketch of Jackie on Autodesk Sketchbook! The scarf design is incorrect, but I was never really big on the fandom anyways (and I'm glad I never did!) This is one of many drawings where I started to draw my eyes in an almond-ish shape (distinct tear duct point).

paranormal investigators

lineless pixel art of Mia and Terry unknown date

An attempt to de-fandomize Mia and Terry. They're the original two besties that eventually started The Magic We Create! I remember sketching this on paper, colored in MS Paint, and did the background on Photoshop. I only have a copy with my old watermark on it (My previous username on DA is Ice-Cream-Pizza-3), but it's part of the charm.

The Detroitten Twins

lineless pixel art of Detroitten Twins oct 23, 2014

A duo of fancharacters, Rookie and Bishop Detroitten, made for the Fairly Oddparents and the 7D, respectively. I really had a kick with making random fancharacters that can absolutly stand on their own, for fandoms I'm not even too involved in (one of these, at least, was a show that I really liked). Bishop went through a possible remake that was part of Terry's story, but once I updated the story again, he hasn't seen a new remake again. Maybe I could bring them back?

Blysse Brooks

fullbody of Blysse may 28, 2014

A piece I made for a DeviantArt roleplay group called the Monster Makers! This is the first RP group I've ever joined, and this was my player character, Blysse Brooks. She befriends many creatures that become her familiars, such as this fella. Made this on Autodesk iPad!

Chase

Oscar chasing a fairy in the forest at night jul 5, 2014

A piece I made for a DeviantArt roleplay group called the Monster Makers! This is the first RP group I've ever joined, and it involved making creatures by combining various animal traits together. This little fella is Oscar, a possum/porcupine/deer mix. This was made on Autodesk iPad, and I tried doing a painty scene on one layer.

zygers the zubat

sept 18, 2014

A Zubat character with steampunk vibes and prosthetic legs. I really like the pilot hat and goggles over his head and eyes that aren't there. I've been naming my first Zubats as Zygers for so long. Made with Autodesk Sketchbook on the phone!

scatters

lineless dog version of the pokemon Scatterbug unknown date

I remember making this for a DeviantArt group contest, which basically consisted of doggy-fying pokemon. Here's a Scatterbug doggy! I still really like the design of this one. I made this on MS Paint.

spaceyness

traditional art of Benny the Space Guy from the LEGO Movie mar 16, 2014

I was big fan of the LEGO Movie, and I was especially obsessed with Benny. I think I used oil pastels and markers for the colors? The text is definitely inspired by the song from Frozen.

Text transcript: Do you want to build a spaceship?

catwalk

lineless art of unikitty from the LEGO Movie using limited colors may 9, 2014

Another one of these limited color palette tests with Unikitty! Made on Autodesk iPad.

BMO

Humanized BMO from Adventure Time may 18, 2014

Fun little humanoid design for the little feller in Adventure Time.

Text Transcript: Who wants to play some videogames?
